Positive Psychology

Positive psychology is a theoretical approach that is used in counseling as well as in organizational psychology.  A counselor can employ the techniques of positive psychology in their sessions. Martin Seligman is the founder of positive psychology, a concept and a theory that embodies optimum happiness simply because you are engaged in something that brings you joy.  Have you ever sat down to read a book, garden, volunteer, sit on the beach or talk with family and friends and lose track of time?  What about a hobby such as canoeing, baking, painting, hiking or hunting?

When we are engaged in an activity that gives us optimum happiness while we lose track of time, then you are in flow.  The essence of Positive psychology is based on “flow”.  A state of well being that is experienced from being engaged in something that we truly appreciate and love.  What is your flow?  Do you find peace and tranquility when you are walking on the beach?  What about your job?  Do you really love your job?  Does time seem to go by so quickly when you are engaged at work?  Sometimes we can change our lives simply by changing our mindset.
